Undergraduate Research Day hosted by Johns Hopkins University and UMD BMES

This event – co-coordinated by the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University chapters of BMES – is designed to provide undergraduate students with a unique opportunity to gain research presentation experience by way of presenting a poster and/or oral presentation. This event is open to all bioengineering and biocomputational engineering undergraduates. Even more, students will engage with counterparts from JHU, as well as, potentially, George Mason University and the University of Delaware. 

Prizes will be awarded to the top poster presentation as well as the top oral presentation. Students who cannot participate in person are invited to compete in the oral presentation virtually. All in-person event attendees will have the opportunity to view both the in-person and online oral presentations live.

The agenda for this event is slated as follows, but is subject to change slightly based on the total number of competitors:

Friday, April 29th

9:30 a.m. –10:00 a.m. Welcome & Setup

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Poster Competition

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Speaker & Lunch

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Oral Presentations

1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Break (Judges Submit Scores)

1:15 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Announcement of Awards

Please note: the timing of this event may change slightly based on the number of student participants. The start time of this event will be no earlier than 9:30, and the event will conclude by no later than 3:00 p.m. For those who can only compete or attend virtually, the virtual portion of the event will take place at some point in the early afternoon (approximately 1:30 – 2:30).
