Memorial Chapel is currently looking to hire undergraduate Event Managers for Summer 2021. Weekend availability is required. Previous event experience isn't necessary but preferred. Description: Chapel Event Managers assist with facilitating more than 1,200 events held annually at Memorial Chapel to include weddings, concerts, commencements, lectures, christenings, and other special events. Roles and responsibilities include coverage of: 2-3 weekends in June, July, and August; and coverage of at least two weekends in the Spring and Fall semesters; interacting with students, faculty/staff, visitors and guests; assisting the Chapel Manager and Senior Event Manager with booking reservations, attending local Wedding Expos, managing an extensive event database; and coordinating with Chaplains to organize related programming for the University of Maryland and local community. $11.25 / Hourly
Required Qualifications: Be positive and respectful in working with a diverse population, Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, Make sound judgment calls, act with authority and have a general familiarity with the campus, Must be able to attend training as assigned. Online training will be required, Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, stand for at least 2 hours without rest, and to follow directions with minimal supervision, Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, and/ or weekends, Must be enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland (during academic year), Must possess critical thinking, analytic and problem-solving skills, This position requires high levels of responsibility, the ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and excellent customer service.

Training/Meeting Requirements: Event Shadowing, Stamp onboarding training (online), Stamp August Orientation, Staff meetings.
